June - August 2021 Message From the President

WTS Sacramento has had a great Summer, and we have much more to look forward to this Fall!

First of all, we recently held the 8th Annual WTS Cruising the Catwalk Fashion Show Fundraiser. We were back in-person at a new outdoor location at the Folsom Amphitheater. It was so much fun and we could not have put on such a successful event without our incredible models and volunteers! All funds raised go to the WTS Foundation which supports our annual scholarship winners. If you were unable to attend, and would still like to donate, you can still do so here. And on that note, the WTS Sacramento Scholarship Applications are now available on our website. Please share with any high school, junior college, undergrad, or graduate students you know.

Our monthly lunch programs have continued to keep us updated on the latest in the transportation industry in our region. In June we heard about the Railroad Street Improvements and the Old Town Plaza Project in the City of Elk Grove, in July we heard from Siemens Mobility about their railcar manufacturing, and in August we heard from R.E.Y Engineers about LiDAR technologies. Read more about these programs below! As for upcoming events, our October Lunch Program will be on the Yankee Jim’s Bridge Replacement Project and our Fall Professional Development is a Golf 101 Clinic at Haggin Oaks Golf Complex. You won’t want to miss out!

Lastly, I wanted to bring to your attention the recently released 2021-2026 WTS Strategic Plan. This plan “unifies WTS International, the WTS Foundation, and the WTS Chapters under one strategic umbrella, so that together, through the realization of our core values and objectives, we can strive to accomplish our mission and fulfill our vision.” To learn more and read the WTS Strategic Plan, click here.

Thank you for your continued support of WTS!

Warmest Regards,

Emily Abrahams
