It was an exciting summer for WTS Sacramento with compelling lunch programs and an unforgettable fundraiser! Our July program featured a transportation and housing panel consisting of Annie Fryman, Kacey Lizon, and Cesar Diaz, providing their perspective on current events and anticipated shifts in the industry. In August we welcomed Rafael Martinez who presented on the Apple Farms Traffic Circulation Improvement Pilot Project, just in time for apple season! A big thanks to the City of West Sacramento for providing us a temporary home for our lunch programs this summer.
Last Wednesday, we hosted our 7th annual fashion show fundraiser, Cruising the Catwalk, where some of our favorite transportation leaders strutted their stuff to raise funds for our scholarship program. One of my personal favorite parts of the evening was watching Rebecca Neves and Will Kempton in a live-auction bidding war! Their passion for WTS was truly inspiring! A huge thanks to everyone who made the event a success. All proceeds for the event go directly towards our scholarship program.
As we move into fall and winter, we are not slowing down! Scholarship applications are now open! Check out below for a list of the scholarships we offer and to learn more about them. Our upcoming events include an update on Caltrans District 3 where we will be welcoming District Director, Amarjeet Benipal. This event is already sold out, but please contact Rebecca Shafer to be added to the waitlist. Also in October, we’ll be hosting a reception welcoming the new Secretary of CalSTA, David Kim and registration is now open! November 6th will be our last lunch program of the year and also serve as our annual meeting. We’ll be back in our normal room at SACOG and the presentation will be on the I Street Bridge Replacement Project. We are also planning our second annual corporate partner appreciation event and fall professional development series. Stay tuned for more details.
Thank you for your continued support of the WTS Sacramento Chapter!
