April - May 2021 Message From the President

As we reach midway through 2021, we have a lot to share!

I am so excited to announce that WTS Sacramento was named a Gold chapter, the highest recognition, in the WTS Circle of Excellence. Thank you to the WTS Sacramento Board for the continuous work you put into this chapter; thank you to our members for participating in our chapter’s programs; and thank you to our corporate partners for the continued support.

The 2021 WTS Annual Conference was held virtually this year from May 10-14. At least two of our chapter members were in attendance, including our sponsored member, who won the random drawing, Maria Sapiendante. Read more about their experiences at the conference and their take-aways below.

In April, WTS hosted Celebrate Diversity Month, where we shared information and resources about diversity, equity, and inclusion. Then in May we honored Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month and shared some spotlights of transportation professionals in the AAPI community. In addition, the WTS Sacramento Board participated in a Diversity and Inclusion Training to educate ourselves and to better implement further integration of diversity, equity, and inclusion into all our chapter’s functions.

Our April lunch program on the Folsom Boulevard Revitalization Project with Edgar Medina from the City of Rancho Cordova and our May lunch program with Melissa Figueroa, Meg Cederoth and Yaqeline Castro on the California High Speed Rail Project were a huge success! We also held our Spring Professional Development event on Leading with Relationship Intelligence with Katie Miller of Left Lane Advisors.

As a closing reminder, be sure to follow us on Instagram (sac_wts), Facebook (WTS Sacramento), and LinkedIn (WTS Sacramento)! Thank you for your continued support of WTS!

Warmest Regards,

Emily Abrahams

WTS Sacramento Chapter President
