April 2026 Transportation YOU Events

Transportation You had a busy April 2026 filled with a variety of outreach events. On Monday 3/30 Transportation YOU co-chair Anna Johnson went to speak at the American Association of University Women (AAUW) STEM Conference at Yuba College. Eighth grade girls from around Yuba County attended a rotation of professional women’s talks on their careers. Anna spoke about her career as a bridge engineer and civil engineering overall, and it was great seeing how interested some students were about this possible career path.

On Monday 4/6 Transportation You presented at the Engineering and Sciences High School in a lunchtime session. The group discussed what transportation is, and what career path opportunities there are in transportation. This was the first event of a planned future partnership with the school. We look forward to working with the students at this school! Thank you to our volunteers Anna Johnson, Jameela Flordeliz, Amanda Kahn, and Manroop Narwal.

On Tuesday 4/16 Transportation You supported Engineering and Sciences High School by participating on its Senior Thesis Defense Panel. Panelists evaluated student presentations highlighting their academic journey, future plans, and readiness for college and a career. Students presented coursework artifacts, reflected on their growth, and discussed college pathways, including intended majors and coursework selection, as well as the skills they have developed for long term success. Thank you to Transportation You Co-chair, Jameela Flordeliz for serving on the panel and supporting student achievement.
