August Lunch Program

Join   us for our August Lunch Program on the California Road Charge Program, featuring Lauren Prehoda from Caltrans and Frances Dea-Sanchez from the California Transportation Commission.

California is a national leader in reducing air pollution by actively promoting electric vehicle adoption. While the rapid adoption of electric and other zero-emission vehicles has many benefits, it also creates a need for transportation funding that does not rely on taxing fossil fuels.

Since 2014 California has been investigating the use of a new transportation funding model that would be based on a per mile fee, or road use charge. The   model would be sustainable in a future when Californians drive vehicles that use little to no gasoline.

States across the country are exploring road charge as a viable option. Like many states, California is running pilots to understand how road charge could   work. The final pilot, set to begin this year, is focused on understanding different revenue collection methods.

REGISTRATION   NOTES:

· All   in-person WTS Member no-shows will be charged the full in-person   non-member price unless a cancellation notice is provided 48 hours in   advance.

· A WTS Member   may not have a non-member take their place.

· A refund will not be   offered if you registered to attend in-person and decide to attend virtually   instead.

· If a virtual   registrant shows up in-person, they will be charged any appropriate   difference in cost and no lunch is guaranteed.

· We will be unable to   accommodate walk-ins. Please register in advance to attend
